Driver
When To Use:
Used most often off the tee for par 4 or par 5 holes.
What’s The Point:
Provides the longest distance to get you as close as possible to the green in one swing.

Fairway Wood
When To Use:
Used off the tee or in the fairway.
What’s The Point:
Provides distance on longer holes when used in the fairway. Can also be used off the tee on holes where a driver isn’t ideal, and even around the green in the right hands.

3-wood
Hybrids
When To Use:
Used off the tee or in the fairway, for more precise shots than a driver or fairway wood can manage.
What’s The Point:
Hybrids are more forgiving than a long iron and much easier to hit out of tough lies.

5-hybrid, 6-hybrid
Irons
When To Use:
Used for second or third shots or tee shots on par 3 holes.
What’s The Point:
Irons are all about precision and getting the ball close to the hole. The numbers correspond to intended distance.

Iron, 9, 8, 7

7-iron, 8-iron, 9-iron
Wedges
When To Use:
Used most often near the green or in greenside bunkers to get the ball near or in the hole.
What’s The Point:
When you’re close enough to the hole to use a wedge, you are usually trying to get the ball in the hole or close enough to finish in one putt.

Putter
When To Use:
Used to make putts on the green.
What’s The Point:
The putter is the only club you use on every single hole, unless you get a hole in one.
